Satisfaction. Guaranteed.

Whimsy of the day: I have finally figured out how to wear a head scarf without looking like a complete idiot. Instead, I look like Rosie the Riveter, minus the Mamie curl. I feel indomitable! Also, overeducated.

My quest to lose 2 lbs this weekend was foiled by chocolate fondue with a banana last night (fruit should negate the sat fat, I think), but I still feel like I have burned megacalories. 2 hours of weeding and dragging a cart around the yard, 1.5 miles walk with the dog this morning, 75 minutes spent scrubbing the kitchen floor on my hands and knees, and an expected 4 mile walk this afternoon should help. Plus I finished the chocolate chips so now there's nothing left to eat! Perfect.

Someone was very interested in helping me with the scrubbing:

That is one sneaky dog. He went under the barricade.

egad.

Today is officially a Good Day. I was able to silence the dog with a pork chomp from 5:30-7:00 this morning, thereby gaining an additional 1.5 hrs of sleep. I enjoyed the remains of last night's peach crisp for breakfast. I vacuum, scrubbed the cabinets (actually scrubbed! with delicious-smelling oil soap!), cleaned out the medicine cabinet, went to the post office, and cleaned the stove and exhaust hood. Then Gus and I went for a 2.5 mi run in the heat of of the day; he splish-splashed in the creek after,  and I threw sticks for him. Then, I weeded half a small fraction of the center flower bed, talked to the neighbors for 20 minutes, watched Project Runway, found my cell phone thanks entirely to my genius mother, took two dump cart loads of gravel to the driveway, broke off all of last year's coneflower and black eyed susan stalks, and painted my toenails.

I am spent. This may be the most I've accomplished in one day in weeks. Part of me is very pleased to have been productive; another part wonders what on earth I spend my time doing, if it's not being productive like I was today. On second thought, I'm not sure I should go there.
