Motivation.

We all have different motivators. Some of us are motivated by the desire to do a good job. Others of us are motivated by food.

I'd say it's pretty obvious what her motivation is.

Escapee

(Again, please excuse my ridiculously loud voice).

For iPhone readers: try this.

She is so speedy, and finds such joy in scooting away from us. We have gated off the stairs, now that she has proven her ability to climb them.

Charlotte et le chat

Charlotte loves our animals. Usually the sight of a cat will make her smile, if not laugh. I've noticed in the past week that she is now saying "chat" when she sees them. I suppose it makes sense to note that I am speak French to Charlotte about 1/3 of the time we're together.

This morning when we came downstairs, the two cats were over by the wood stove soaking up some heat, and Charlotte pointed and said "chat" repeatedly. So stinking cute! I managed to capture a little of it on video. It's not great - I didn't have the lights on, nor time to grab the video camera - but it'll do.

(Her little voice is near the end. Please excuse my very loud voice)

I understand some iPhones readers can't access the embedded videos, so here's the link.

You don't look like you're having much fun

It snowed, finally, enough for us to go snowshoeing. Yay, I thought. I love snowshoeing. And carrying Charlotte on my back will make this real exercise, I thought. Perfect.

Holy smokes, that was REAL exercise, alright. Can you see Matt up at the top there? Unless he stopped and waited for me, this was as close as we ever got. At one point, he turned around and said "you don't look like you're having much fun." I grunted my response. I was not having much fun, but I didn't want to admit that because it was my idea to go in the first place.

It turned into a Gilligan's Island kind of activity, the kind where you're only planning on being out for 2 hours, and the next thing you know, it's been over 3 and you're still not back to the car. Charlotte got so annoyed that she somehow got her hat flipped inside out and upside down.

 Gus, however, loved it.

We went again the next day. This is the view I had:
Much easier! Also, isn't it funny how it looks like she's in upside down? We put wool socks over her hands (and arms) so that she can't lose her mittens.

The whole thing made me realize exactly how out of shape I have become. Now that the holiday's are over, I'm back to trying to eat healthy and move my body more often. Hopefully that will mean more outdoor adventures to post!

Oh, no.

That's what Gus seems to be thinking these days, as Charlotte has discovered the joys of having a dog in the house.

It seems to tire her out, at least.

Sasquatch-calling

Charlotte's got this funny noise that she's been making for at least a month now.

She does it when she's mad, she does it when she's happy... it seems to be a pretty universal sound. At least she'll have mastered the rolled r when she starts taking Spanish in school!
