Definitely better than feeling crappy!
Thanks to a perfect storm of inspiration, I decided to try my hand at felting sweaters. I'd seen a kid's vest on a blog that I follow, and after felting a whole bunch of sweaters from my grandmother (felted cashmere, ohmygod) I noticed that an old, wool, royal purple sweater (that I had worn for the better part of 10 years) felted down to pretty much the perfect vest size for Charlotte. So I sliced off the arms and cut up the middle, and suddenly, a new vest was born. I do want to put some sort of closure on it, though.
Difficult to get a good picture of it, since she steadfastly refuses to hold still these days. And, I just noticed that she only has on one shoe. Curious.
Felting things and upcycling the result is officially my new fave. I'm 3/4 done with a pillow cover out of some cashmere sweaters, and honey, let me tell ya, I'm obsessed!
Things I love about this post:
ReplyDelete1. CK's vest.
2. CK's socks.
3. Your craftiness! You go mama joie, go!
OHH! I love this idea! I've been hoarding wool sweaters that I've shrunk and have been wanting to make mittens, hats, diaper covers, wool longies for the girl, and a wool quilt... but this is a fabulous idea -- so warm and adorable, too!
